BIRCWH is a career development program for women’s health research. Through financial support, targeted mentorship, and educational programs, we support the next generation of scholars. The program is a joint effort of the University of California, San Francisco, and the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research. The next call for applications will likely be in fall 2017.

Congratulations to BIRCWH scholar Cait Koss

The UCSF Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) awarded its Early-Career Research Excellence Awards to BIRCWH scholar Dr. Koss. The awards recognize and honor outstanding early-career investigators advancing HIV-related research. Dr. Koss was recognized for her clinical research on viral suppression and long-term retention in care among recent mothers in Uganda and spoke about her newly-funded BIRCWH project to study PrEP in US women.

Koss-CFAR-awardDr. Paul Volberding, CFAR Co-director, notes that “CFAR regards its mentoring program as a key achievement. Supporting the next generations of leading investigators ensures that the amazing success we have attained continues as we face the ongoing challenges of this epidemic. The mentorship symposium is our annual showcase of that new leadership.”
